The City of Grande Prairie begins fall residential street sweeping Monday, October 5.
Fall street sweeping removes leaves, sand and other debris that has accumulated on residential roads. Sweeping supports the City’s stormwater maintenance by reducing material that can collect around catch basins and enter the drainage system.
Residential sweeping is planned for October 5 to 9 and October 13 to 16, weather and operational conditions permitting. Neighbourhoods normally scheduled for Monday, October 12 will be swept Monday, October 19 due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
Residents can help crews complete a more thorough sweep by moving vehicles off the street from 7 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. when sweepers are working in their area and giving sweepers and support equipment plenty of space to operate safely.
Sweepers may make multiple passes along a street during a single visit to remove as much material as possible.
Residential street sweeping is planned according to the following schedule:
- Monday, October 5: Hillside, Mountview and VLA/Montrose
- Tuesday, October 6: Patterson, South Patterson and Southview
- Wednesday, October 7: Avondale, College Park and Swanavon/Highland Park North
- Thursday, October 8: Kensington, Mission Heights, O’Brien Lake and Stone Ridge
- Friday, October 9: Arbour Hills, Gateway, Northridge, Royal Oaks and Westgate
- Tuesday, October 13: Country Club Estates, Countryside North and South, Signature Falls and Country Club West
- Wednesday, October 14: Cobblestone, Fieldbrook, Highland Park South, Riverstone and Smith
- Thursday, October 15: Pinnacle Ridge and Westpointe
- Friday, October 16: Lakeland, Easthaven, Crystal Ridge, Copperwood and Crystal Lake Estates
- Monday, October 19: Crystal Heights, Crystal Landing, Summit and Ivy Lake Estates
Street sweeping is weather dependent and daily progress may vary. Areas that are rescheduled or not fully completed due to operational needs will also be addressed on the week of October 19-23.
