Delegations
Ms. Erin Atkinson Jubb spoke to Council about concerns related to magpie and crow populations in Grande Prairie and approaches to managing their impact in the community. Council directed Administration to bring information back to the appropriate Standing Committee, on a responsible program regarding nuisance birds.
Mr. Basheer Islam spoke to Council about the upcoming 11th Annual Voices for Peace Conference. The event focuses on the role of empathy and community in building connection and strengthening relationships across the community. Council received the report for information.

Council approved Bylaw C-1326A, an amendment to the Road Closure Bylaw, updating the existing bylaw related to road closures in Grande Prairie.
City of Grande Prairie’s Strategic Plan 2026-2029 – Strategic Projects and Initiatives
Council approved the 2026-2029 Strategic Projects and Initiatives, outlining key projects and work that will advance the priorities identified in Council’s 2026-2029 Strategic Plan.
The initiatives will guide departmental planning and future budget decisions, with progress reported to Council quarterly to track milestones and outcomes.

Committee Business
Pursuit of Excellence and Sport Hosting Grant
Council approved funding allocations through the Pursuit of Excellence and Sport Hosting Grant programs.
The Pursuit of Excellence fund supports the development of athletes, coaches, volunteers and officials, while the Sport Hosting Grant supports eligible organizations bringing provincial, national and other major sporting events to Grande Prairie.
Multisport Dome Operating Model
Council approved the Multisport Dome to operate as a City-owned and operated facility, along with a fee structure to be informed by comparable non-local recreation facilities.
This approach will allow the City to establish reliable operating data while aligning the facility with municipal recreation priorities and supporting consistent service delivery.
Bylaw Amendments aligned with Provincial Privacy Legislation
Council approved amendments to Records Management Bylaw C-1348B and repealed FOIP Bylaw C-1382A following changes to provincial access to information and privacy legislation.
The updates ensure City bylaws reflect the current provincial legislative framework.
