Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Medal Recipients

Councillor Bressey recognized members of the community who were awarded the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Medal by Alberta Municipalities, including Bob Nicolay, Councillor John Lehners (accepted posthumously by Donna Koch), Mayor Jackie Clayton, Deb Cryderman, Councillor Kevin O'Toole and Fire Chief Preben Bossen (not pictured).

Public Member Appointments

City Council made several public member appointments to boards and committees, including:

  • Aarzu Masih, Anella De Rueda, Chloe Watson, Daisy Nellis, Grace Larson, Hennessey De Guzman, Janee Bauman, Jason D'Souza, Julia Izuogu, and Nabeel Malik to the Youth Advisory Council for a 1-year term each ending December 31, 2023.
  • Cord Spero to the Economic Development Strategic Planning & Advisory Committee as the Chamber of Commerce representative for a term from January 1, 2023 to December 31, 2023.
  • Linda Murphy, Baily Lapp, Karen McGriskin, and Terri Trask to the Assessment Review Board for a 3-year term each ending December 31, 2025. 
  • Chad Boone, Yad Minhas, Robin Rochon and Darrell Stoby to the Combative Sports Commission for a 3-year term each ending December 31, 2025.
  • Wura Adekoya, Tammy Brown, and Greg Hearn to the Community Advisory Committee for a 3-year term each ending December 31, 2025.
  • Julia Dutove, Francois Fournier, Valeriia Granillo, Rick Murray, Jodianne Noel and Darin Wiegel to the Community Knowledge Campus Advisory Committee for a 3-year term each ending December 31, 2025.
  • Lynne Coulter to the Complaint Adjudication Committee for a 3-year term ending December 31, 2025.
  • Bernd Manz, Ian Penner and Scott Pravitz to the Grande Prairie Airport Commission for a 3-year term each ending December 31, 2025.
  • Catherine Unger to the Grande Prairie Airport Commission for a 2-year term ending December 31, 2024.
  • Ryan Chase to the Grande Prairie Airport Commission for a 1-year term ending December 31, 2023.
  • Simon Bossen, Erica Fisher and Yad Minhas to the Grande Prairie Public Library Board for a 3-year term each ending December 31, 2025.
  • Peter Ma to the Municipal Policing Advisory Committee for a 3-year term ending December 31, 2025.
  • Lynne Coulter and Terri Sudnik to the Subdivision & Development Appeal Board for a 3-year term each ending December 31, 2025.

Snow and Ice Control Policy

City Council approved amendments to Policy 606, being the Snow and Ice Control Policy. The amendments are a result of a fulsome service review and public consultation that occurred in summer 2022.

Grant Funding Reallocations

Council approve the reallocation of 2022 approved funds as follows:

  • $15,000 in 2022 Sport Hosting Funding, to be used for Sport Hosting Funding in 2023
  • $25,000 in Arts Development Festival Funding, to be used for Sport Hosting Funding in 2023
  • $30,000 in Neighbourhood Association Funding, to be used for Community Building opportunities in 2023

Municipal Historic Resource Designation

City Council designated the Grande Prairie Courthouse (1957) as a Municipal Historic Resource.
