Proclamations 

Mayor Jackie Clayton proclaimed May 3 – 9, 2026, as Goodwill Week. Goodwill Industries of Alberta celebrates the incredible communities who have helped the organization realize is mission of connecting Albertans with disabilities to meaningful employment. Through the generosity of donors, shoppers, and members of the community, Goodwill can help Albertans achieve their goals of workplace independence.

Mayor Jackie Clayton proclaimed May 4 – 8, 2026 as Economic Development Week. Economic developers support entrepreneurship and innovation, helping to launch the next generation of businesses that shape Alberta’s economy. The City’s Invest Grande Prairie team plays a vital role in attracting and retaining quality jobs, developing vibrant communities, and enhancing the quality of life in our region.

Mayor Jackie Clayton proclaimed May 4-10 as Mental Health Week in Grande Prairie. During Mental Health Month, we come together to raise awareness, support one another, promote access to resources, and encourage open conversations about mental health. By fostering understanding, acceptance, and compassion, we can build a stronger, healthier community where no one feels alone in their mental health journey.

Council appointed the following to the Grande Prairie Police Commission:

  1. Dan Wong and Natalia Reiman for a two-year term each beginning May 5, 2026 and ending May 4, 2028; 
  2. Donna Koch for a three-year term beginning May 5, 2026 and ending May 4, 2029; and
  3. Lois Duke for a two-year term beginning June 15, 2026 and ending June 14, 2028.
