Delegations

Dr. Brian Muir from Alberta Health Services presented an update on local healthcare to City Council, who received the report for information.

Randy Arsenault from the Canadian Mental Health Association Presented to City Council to request the transfer of property located at 7202-99A Street & 7204-99A Street be transferred to the CMHA to increase social housing units in the community. Council directed the request to the appropriate standing committee for further discussion.

Tiny Hands of Hope presented to City Council to request Council name the Children’s Memorial Garden as ‘The Blossoming Garden of Hope.’ Council approved the naming of the garden.

Intermunicipal Development Plan Negotiations Committee

City Council appointed Mayor Clayton and Councillors Lehners and Bressey to the Intermunicipal Development Plan Negotiating Committee.

The committee exists to facilitate negotiations with the County of Grande Prairie as both municipalities look to review and update the current Intermunicipal Development Plan that has been in place since 2010.

City Events

City Council reallocated $21,000 from Municipal Government Day and $35,000 from Council’s Strategic Initiatives Fund for a new Experience Grande Prairie event.

Downtown Business Improvement Area Board

City Council appointed community members to the Downtown Business Improvement Area Board, including:

  • Doug Morris, Jason Sawatzky, Don Murray and Kristina MacNeil for a term ending March 1, 2023
  • John Kriska and Markus Oeser for a term ending March 1, 2024
  • Chelsea O'Neill, Grant Berg, and Clifford Headon for a term ending March 1, 2025.

Public Hearing – Land Use Bylaw Amendment C-1260-155

Council approved amendments to the Land Use Bylaw that see the rezoning of land located in the Richmond Industrial Area from General Industrial to Arterial Commercial.
