Proclamations

Mayor Jackie Clayton proclaimed January as Alzheimer’s Awareness Month in Grande Prairie.

Delegations

Tax Penalties - A resident presented to City Council requesting a refund on tax penalties from 2021 and 2022. Administration resolved the concerns during recess.

Indoor Soccer - Swan City FC presented to City Council to discuss a plan for the creation of a new, dedicated indoor space for soccer. City Council directed administration to bring a report back to the appropriate Standing Committee on January 31 regarding Option 3 as suggested by the Swan City Football Club, including parking options. Additionally, Council directed the Mayor to reconnect with the school board to discuss future use of the Avondale green space.

132 Avenue and 100 Street Functional Study - Circle K Convenience Stores, GHD Limited, and Longmate Holdings presented to City council to speak in support of the 132 Avenue Functional Study.

132 Avenue Functional Study

City Council adopted the 132 Avenue Functional Study and Supplementary Report and the GHD Functional Study amendment. The report outlines amendments proposed by an applicant to improve access to a property located at the southeast corner of 132 Avenue and 100 Street.

Transfer of Title – Grande Prairie Youth Emergency Shelter Society

City Council approved the transfer of land parcels located in the Northwest of the City, near the Westgate area, to the Grande Prairie Youth Emergency Shelter Society.

Peace Library System Appointment

City Council appointed Councillor Grant Berg to the Peace Library System Board and removed Councillor Mike O'Connor's appointment.

Correspondence from Alberta Winter Games

City Council received a letter from Alberta Winter Games awarding the City of Grande Prairie as the host for the 2024 Alberta Winter Games, to be held February 16 to 19, 2024. Council appointed Mayor Clayton to the 2024 Alberta Winter Games Board as a non-voting member.
