The City is excited to announce the FlowRider machine, located in the Eastlink Centre aquatics area, has re-opened for public use.
“We’re looking forward to have this amenity up and available for public use again soon,” says Angela Redding, General Manager at the Community Knowledge Campus. “The re-introduction of the FlowRider at the Eastlink Centre provides visitors an additional unique and fun recreational activity to try out at the facility.”
“The FlowRider is an excellent community asset that provides fun and entertainment to our residents and visitors,” says Mayor Jackie Clayton. “Amenities like this improve our residents’ quality of life by providing accessible and varied recreational options that promote active lifestyles, especially during the cold winter months.”
The FlowRider is a stationary wave machine where residents can practice wake boarding, surfing and body boarding.
The FlowRider schedule is starting out with the following hours during public swim times:
- Monday and Wednesday from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.
- Friday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. (and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday PD Days)
- Saturday and Sunday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
This schedule is meant to re-introduce the FlowRider back to the public and is subject to change without notice. The FlowRider is not currently available for bookings and does not include any additional cost outside of membership, punch pass or drop-in fees. Stay up to date with the latest FlowRider schedule information at cityofgp.com/schedules.
The FlowRider has a height requirement of 52” for surfing and 42” for bodyboarding for rider safety. There is no age requirement to use the amenity.
Those interested in using the FlowRider are required to sign, or have a legal guardian sign, a waiver form. Waiver forms are available at the Eastlink Centre guest services desks and online.
All riders that previously signed a waiver, or had a legal guardian sign a waiver for them, are not required to sign a new waiver. Riders who had a legal guardian sign a form when they were under 18 will now need to sign a new waiver if they are 18 or older.
