The City of Grande Prairie is providing a new Sport Sampler Days event to encourage the community to try out new activities while participating in an active lifestyle.

Sport Sampler Days features different activities at the Community Knowledge Campus, inclusive of the Eastlink Centre and Twin Ice Arenas, to try for free each day from October 29 to November 12, excluding October 30 and November 11.

Most activities have one time slot, take place in the evening and can accommodate between six and 20 people per session. Participation is open for residents ages 16 and older.

“We are thrilled to introduce Sport Sampler Days to provide an opportunity for people to come to the Community Knowledge Campus and try something new or get back into a previously loved activity at no cost,” says Mayor Jackie Clayton. “We’re looking forward to providing this style of event to a new demographic, who does not typically have the same opportunity to try out new activities in a free, fun and non-committal environment.”

Sport Sampler Days activities include:

  • Water polo with the Eastlink Centre
  • Introduction to Yoga with the Eastlink Centre
  • Hip Hop with the Eastlink Centre
  • Introduction to Cycle with the Eastlink Centre
  • Introduction to the fitness centre with the Eastlink Centre
  • Introduction to the functional fitness area (South Concourse) with the Eastlink Centre
  • Pickleball with Grande Prairie Pickleball Club
  • Diving with Shantara Dive Services
  • Skating with Grande Prairie Skating Club
  • Swimming with Fossils Master Swim Club. Participants must be comfortable swimming in the deep end of the pool for this program.
  • Artistic swimming with Grande Prairie Synquatics Club
  • Squash with Grande Prairie Squash Club
  • Kayaking with Wapiti Whitewater Kayakers
  • Racquetball with Alberta Racquetball Association
