(Grande Prairie, Alta. – November 14, 2025) – The City of Grande Prairie and the Downtown Association are inviting residents to come together and celebrate the magic of the season at the annual Christmas Tree Light Up on Sunday, November 30 at Bonnetts Energy Centre. The evening promises twinkling lights, festive treats and fun for all ages.

Festivities begin at 4 p.m. in H.A. Rice Plaza, where guests can enjoy complimentary hot chocolate and cookies, courtesy of Beairsto & Associates Engineering Ltd. Once the tree is glowing, the celebration continues inside The Bowes with visits from Santa and a holiday movie to keep the festive spirit alive.

“Annual traditions like the Christmas Tree Light Up remind us how special it is to be part of a community that comes out to join in holiday spirit and fun each year,” said City of Grande Prairie Mayor, Jackie Clayton. “We’re grateful to work alongside the Downtown Association to create a celebration that brings families, friends and neighbours together in the heart of our city.”

“We love seeing the community gather downtown to welcome the holiday season together,” said Hywel Williams, Executive Director of the Grande Prairie Downtown Association. “Our work with the City helps ensure this special tradition continues, offering residents the perfect opportunity to explore our vibrant downtown and enjoy its many shops and experiences.”

To cap off the night, the Grande Prairie Fire Department and local law enforcement face off in the Battle of the Badges charity hockey game, with puck drop at 5:30 p.m. Admission is by cash donation with all proceeds supporting Odyssey House. The suggested contribution of $5 per person or $10 per family is appreciated.
