The City of Grande Prairie is offering new Explore Grande Prairie welcome packages to support individuals new to Canada with access to City recreational facilities and public transit.
Each package includes five passes to the Eastlink Centre, five passes to the Activity Reception Centre, and a three-month pass for free transit. The Explore Grande Prairie welcome packages are designed as a one-time opportunity to welcome new immigrants with refugee, work permits, and student visa status into our community.
To qualify for a package, applicants must be new to Canada (within three months) and have a Grande Prairie address.
Applicants who are approved for the Explore Grande Prairie welcome package will also be automatically approved for one year to the City’s Recreation Access Program and Transit Access Program. For individuals who are being supported by community-based organizations, an agency referral form will be accepted to eliminate documentation requirements.
The Explore Grande Prairie welcome package is being introduced to support newcomers to Canada residing in Grande Prairie with access to recreational activities and transportation to develop connections to our community. It is part of Council’s Strategic Priority of building Inclusive and Caring Community that includes and serves all people.
