Community Group Funding

The City of Grande Prairie is committed to providing core funding support to various community groups or agencies who deliver programs and services that enhance the quality of life for the City and its residents. This is a partnership between the City and community groups or agencies to provide stability to services which make significant contributions to the community that align with Council’s Strategic Plan.

The funding will be based on approved budget resources. In determining the allocation to various community groups or agencies, the administration will make recommendations based upon community needs and the ability of community groups or agencies to respond to that need. It is expected that community groups or agencies will meet established criteria, provide supporting documentation and show outcomes and results of the funding.

  1. Funding will be allocated according to Community Group Funding Policy 315.
  2. Event sponsorship will be considered separately from community groups or agencies grants, according to Policy 112 (Corporate Sponsorship).

For 2026, Community Grants are available in the following categories:

  • Small grants: Up to $10,000 per applicant to support local programs that enhance quality of life.
  • Medium grants: Up to $25,000 per year to support projects that address unmet, or emerging community needs. These grants will not be utilized for ongoing operational costs of the organization.
  • Large grants: Funding of more than $25,000 per year for Council approved community partners and organization operating City-owned facilities or provide services to the community on behalf of the City.
