Nominations are now open for the City of Grande Prairie’s Women of Influence Awards 2024 presented by Peace Diagnostic Imaging to recognize local women who have made a strong impact by promoting equality, providing opportunities for women in the community and breaking barriers in their field.
Our region is known for its vibrancy, entrepreneurship and continuous growth and these awards are a way to celebrate women’s achievements in making this possible with equal opportunity for all.
“The Women of Influence Awards are an annual demonstration of Council’s commitment to an inclusive, caring community, and further, how this in turn supports innovative efficiencies and economic readiness,” says Mayor Jackie Clayton. “These awards are an inspirational showcase of the leaders in our community who are moving the needle in their industries and for gender equality, and we look forward to sharing their stories with the community.”
Awards are available in the following categories:
• Young Woman of Influence
• Trailblazing Woman of Influence
• Distinguished Woman of Influence
Nomination packages are available at cityofgp.com/womenofinfluence and must be submitted by Monday February 5, 2024.
The awards are open to women of all backgrounds, experiences and industries.
An award reception takes place on March 8, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at The Bowes in Bonnett’s Energy Centre featuring an awards ceremony and guest speaker to be announced at a later date. Tickets are available at bonnettsenergycentre.com for $40.
About The Women of Influence Awards
The Women of Influence Awards were created in 2018 to commemorate International Women’s Day (IWD) in Grande Prairie and celebrate women’s achievements while promoting equal opportunity for all.
The awards are made possible through partnership between the City of Grande Prairie, Northwestern Alberta Foundation, Grande Prairie and District Chamber of Commerce, Grande Prairie Friendship Centre and Odyssey House. New this year, the event is pleased to welcome Peace Diagnostic Imaging as a presenting sponsor.
International Women’s Day (IWD) is an event recognized world-wide to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women and to advocate for the continued advancements of equal rights. The IWD 2024 theme is #InspireInclusion, which calls on each person to imagine a gender equal world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive where difference is valued and celebrated.
