Grande Prairie is embarking on an exciting journey to develop an Urban Forest Strategy, aiming to protect, enrich and celebrate our urban forest for future generations. This forward-thinking strategy will be crafted with our community members' invaluable input and collaboration.
What is an Urban Forest?
An urban forest isn't merely a collection of trees; it's the thriving green core of our city, encompassing majestic trees in parks and streets, along with lush greenery in natural areas, backyards, and even commercial and industrial zones.
This urban oasis offers numerous benefits, from cleaner air to a healthier environment, providing spaces for relaxation and recreation. It's an indispensable part of what makes Grande Prairie an exceptional place to call home.
Public Open House
“We invite all residents and stakeholders to participate in our upcoming Open House event, where your voices and ideas will shape the future of our urban forest and in turn, our community,” says Mayor Jackie Clayton.
Attendees can share their input on:
- What you value most about our urban forest.
- Areas within the city where you believe the urban forest can be improved.
- Any concerns or issues related to the urban forest.
