A previous version of this release identified 98 Avenue, whereas it is 98 Street. This is corrected below.
On Wednesday, September 6, 98 Street is restricted to a single lane from 101 Avenue to 103 Avenue for both northbound and southbound traffic. This necessary measure is being undertaken to facilitate the upgrade of water and sanitary pipes leading into Fletcher House.
To ensure the safety and convenience of all road users, appropriate signage will be placed to guide motorists through the restricted area. The speed limit within the work zone will be reduced to 30 kilometres per hour. This reduction in speed is essential to guarantee the safety of both motorists and construction crews working on the project.
The project's estimated duration is 14 days, weather permitting.
Monty Haughian, Engineering Field Inspector, highlights the significance of the project: "Our commitment to enhancing essential infrastructure remains unwavering. The temporary lane restriction on 98 Street for water and sanitary pipe upgrades is a crucial step in maintaining the integrity of our utility systems. We appreciate the understanding of the community and the cooperation of motorists as we work to improve these vital components."
The City of Grande Prairie expresses gratitude for the community's patience and cooperation.
