(Grande Prairie, Alta. – August 28, 2023) Join the City of Grande Prairie this Friday, September 1, for a free end-of-summer outdoor concert that captures the energy of a block party alongside a celebration of the arts with internationally recognized musical entertainment.

The event takes place in the heart of downtown and features live music, beer gardens, food trucks, and vendors.

Date:            Friday, September 1, 2023

Time:           3 p.m. to 11 p.m. (concert starts at 7 p.m.)

Location:    Festival Avenue (101 Avenue, between 100th Street and 102nd Street)

"The City is excited to welcome the community to the heart of the city for the return of Experience Grande Prairie," said Mayor Jackie Clayton. "We have another great line-up of music, entertainment and activities for all ages, and we can't wait to see the community come together to close out the summer with a block party and outdoor concert!"

FREE All-Ages Concert Featuring: Aaron Goodvin and Barney Bentall

Two Canadian music stars take the stage at Experience Grande Prairie.

Alberta-born, double platinum selling Country Music star, Aaron Goodvin. Residents are invited to attend the event and sing along to his chart-topping hits like “Lonely Drum”, “Boy Like Me” and “Lucky Stars.”

Juno Award-winning, Canadian singer-songwriter Barney Bentall and his band to perform songs from his gold and platinum-selling albums. Enjoy hits such as “Something to Live For” and “Life Could Be Worse" LIVE on stage.

The FREE All-Ages concert begins at 7 p.m. on September 1 on 101 Avenue.

The event also features a variety of entertainment, interactive activities, and demonstrations great for all ages from 3 p.m. onwards, including:

  • DownTown Association Mural Photo Contest:
    • Take a photo at one of the murals in downtown Grande Prairie and post it on Instagram during the event and Tag @gpdowntown and @cityofgp for a chance to win 1 of ten $50 City Centre gift cards.
    • Entries are accepted between August 30 to September 3.

Traffic Information

A road closure is in effect on Friday, September 1 beginning at 6 a.m. on 101 Avenue between 100 Street and 102 Street. The road closure remains in effect until Saturday, September 2 at 2 p.m.

No parking is permitted along 101 Avenue between 100 Street and 102 Street between 6 a.m. on August 31 and 2 p.m. on September 2 to accommodate event set-up.
