Family

Councillor Wade Pilat has been proud to call Grande Prairie home for more than 45 years. Growing up here was an incredible experience, surrounded by family, friends, and a community that truly supports one another. I feel very fortunate that my wife, Dalene, and I get to raise our daughters, Priya and Saige, in this same great city — a place that still lets kids be kids (with just a little less bubble wrap).

Education

  • Graduated from Composite High School

Current Occupation

  • City Councillor
  • Real estate management and investment

About

Like so many families in Grande Prairie, sports play a big role in our lives. Weekends often find us in a gym, cheering on basketball or volleyball games, or on the road to tournaments and camps across Alberta and other provinces. Supporting our daughters as they chase their dreams has also given me a unique perspective — seeing firsthand how other communities invest in recreation and sports infrastructure. It reinforces my belief that Grande Prairie can and should be the hub for sport and recreation in northwestern Alberta, drawing families and events from across the region. Strong recreational opportunities aren’t just about fun — they build healthy communities and drive local economic growth.
