Starting on August 19, Grande Prairie Transit is altering the frequency of several routes as part of a service adjustment review for all Transit service begins.
The changes coming into effect are as follows:
Route 5
- Service frequency is being reduced to hourly throughout the day
- The last trip will leave the Prairie Mall at:
- 7:35 p.m. Monday to Wednesday and Saturday
- 8:35 p.m. on Thursday and Friday
- No changes to Sunday service
Route 6
- Service frequency is being reduced to hourly throughout the day
- The last trip will leave the Eastlink Centre at:
- 7:59 p.m. Monday to Wednesday and Saturday
- 8:59 p.m. on Thursday and Friday
- No changes to Sunday Service
Route 7
- This route is returning to a school route, with one morning trip and one afternoon trip on school days only
- The morning trip operates between 6:59 a.m. and 8:20 a.m.
- The afternoon trip operates between 3:40 p.m. and 5:09 p.m.
These scheduled changes are Phase One of a multi-phase service adjustment review that Transit is undertaking in an effort to improve efficiency under the City of Grande Prairie’s philosophy of continuous improvement. The goal is to implement changes that better match service with ridership demands. These changes include strategies such as service adjustments in coverage and frequency, right-sizing the Transit fleet and exploring options for alternative service delivery.
