Privacy Statement
The City of Grande Prairie is committed to managing and protecting personal information in accordance with the Protection of Privacy Act, SA 2024, c. P-28.5 (“POPA"), the Access to Information Act, SA 2024, c. A-1.4 ("ATIA"), and applicable municipal privacy, records management, and information security requirements.
Collection of Personal Information
Personal information is collected under the authority of section 4(c) of POPA and other applicable enactments, and only to the extent necessary to provide ticketing services, administer events, process payments, deliver customer service, support accessibility or accommodation requests, maintain safety and security, and carry out other authorized operational purposes.
The City of Grande Prairie may collect personal information for purposes including:
- ticketing, programs and services;
- event registration and administration;
- customer service and communications;
- payment processing;
- accessibility or accommodation requests;
- contests and promotions; and
- safety, security, emergency response, and operational administration.
Depending on the service or event, personal information collected may include:
- name;
- mailing and email address;
- telephone number;
- demographic or eligibility information, where applicable;
- transaction and payment information (excluding full payment card details); and
- other information voluntarily provided that is relevant to the requested service.
Payment card transactions are processed through authorized third-party payment service providers using industry-standard security measures. The City does not retain full payment card information except where authorized or required by law.
Use and Disclosure of Personal Information
Personal information is used and disclosed only for the purpose for which it was collected, for a use consistent with that purpose, or as otherwise authorized or required by law.
Where consent is the legal authority for the collection, use, or disclosure of personal information, it will be obtained in accordance with POPA.
Limited personal information may be disclosed to authorized payment processors and contracted service providers where necessary to administer events, deliver services, or support City operations. Service providers acting on behalf of the City are contractually required to protect personal information and may only use or disclose it for the purposes authorized by the City and in accordance with applicable privacy legislation.
The City of Grande Prairie does not sell personal information.
Retention and Protection
Personal information is retained only as long as necessary to fulfill the purpose for which it was collected, or as required by applicable legislation, approved records retention schedules, or legal obligations. When no longer required, personal information is securely destroyed in accordance with the City's records management and information security practices.
The City maintains reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information against unauthorized access, collection, use, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.

Transit On-Demand
Personal information is collected under the authority of section 4(c) of the Protection of Privacy Act, SA 2024, c. Personal information is managed and protected in accordance with POPA, the Access to Information Act, SA 2024, c. A-1.4 ("ATIA"), and applicable municipal privacy, records management, and information security requirements.
The City of Grande Prairie uses VIA Transportation Inc. to provide the Transit On-Demand booking platform. When you register for or book Transit On-Demand services through the VIA platform, personal information is collected and processed to facilitate the provision and administration of those services.
Your use of the VIA platform is also subject to VIA Transportation Inc.'s Privacy Policy and Terms of Use. The City encourages users to review VIA's Privacy Policy to understand how VIA collects, uses, retains, and discloses personal information through its platform.
