Snow Clearing Updates for March 22 to 26, 2021

There are two main ways the City runs snow plowing and ice control operations:

Priority Road Plowing and Ice Control
  • Occurs continuously throughout the winter in response to changing weather conditions.
  • The goal is to plow arterial (priority 1) and secondary (priority 2) roads to maintain clear access for emergency vehicles and general commuters.
  • Includes ice control operations such as sanding and salting, as well as windrow pick-up.
Residential Snow Clearing
  • Occurs in two-week rotations only when triggered by the City.
  • If a neighbourhood is not complete in week one, crews will return in week two.
  • Operated Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • The City hires contracted crews to plow residential roads.

Crystal Heights, Crystal Landing, Summit and Ivy Lake Estates.

Tuesday

Patterson and South Patterson and Southview.

Country Club Estates, Countryside North and South, Signature Falls and Country Club West.

Wednesday

Avondale, College Park and Swanavon/Highland Park (North).

Cobblestone, Fieldbrook, Highland Park (South), Riverstone and Smith.

Thursday

Kensington, Mission Heights, O’Brien Lake and Stone Ridge.

Pinnacle Ridge and Westpointe.

Friday

Arbour Hills, Gateway, Northridge, Royal Oaks and Westgate.

Lakeland, Easthaven, Crystal Ridge, Copperwood, and Crystal Lake Estates.

March 26, 2021: 

  • City crews
    • have completed plowing priority 1 roads and are now plowing priority 2 roads. 
    • are sanding all priority roads.
    • are windrowing in the neighbourhoods of Crystal Ridge, Lakeland, Crystal Lake, and Royal Oaks.
    • are thawing catch basins and culverts on priority roads.
    • are plowing and sanding the trail network.

March 25, 2021:

City crews are: 

  • Plowing and sanding priority 1 and 2 roads. 
  • Plowing and sanding the trail network.

March 24, 2021: 

City crews are: 

  • Plowing and sanding priority 1 and 2 roads. 
  • Picking up windrows along priority 2 roads and in Mission Heights, O’Brien Lake, Pinnacle Ridge, Stone Ridge, and Westpointe.
  • Plowing and sanding the trail network.

March 23, 2021:

City crews are: 

  • in Mountview, Crystal Heights, and Ivy Lake removing piles of snow in cul-de-sacs.
  • sanding priority roads and trails as needed.
  • thawing catch basins throughout the City. 
  • filling potholes as needed.

March 22, 2021:

City crews are: 

  • in Lakeland, Crystal Ridge, Crystal Lake, and Copperwood removing piles of snow in cul-de-sacs.
  • thawing catch basins throughout the City. 
  • filling potholes as needed.
