About
Grant moved to Grande Prairie in January 1991 to take a job at CJXX/Big Country 93.1, over the next 23 years at the radio station he was an announcer and then moved to sales and marketing where he built relationships with small business and helped them grow and succeed. In 2014 Grant jumped over to 104.7 to relaunch that radio station as 104.7 2Day FM as it's General Manager. After 2 years there, the goals that 19 year old Grant set out to accomplish had been achieved and it was time to explore another passion, art. In 2016 Grant launched a commercial art gallery in the City Centre bringing original art for home and office back to the region. As an artist Grant has 5 public sculptures around the city, consistently a top selling artist at the AGGP art auction. Grant has self published 4 books and has his story featured in another. Grant also has written a series of children's books inspired by his Cree/Metis Grandmother that are now fully illustrated to be pitched to publishers.
Background & Experience
With the career in broadcasting, communications has been a key focus area of improvement for Grant, this is an ever changing landscape with GP losing the print version of the DHT and more people getting information online. Small business and by extension, economic development is a major focus having consulted with small business for over 25 years and for the past 10 years owning his own small business. Arts, culture and music are significant passions for Grant, from an economic standpoint each are key tourism sectors but for quality of life, we can't be all work and no play, we need to experience our best lives when we leave work as individuals and for our families. People move here for work but stay because they enjoy the life they have, developing that balance is essential to a successful community. Sports and Recreation facilities along with outstanding events also round out that focus on quality of life that Grant has been actively involved with over the years.
