The City of Grande Prairie is delighted to announce a significant addition to its urban landscape with the recent installation of tree groves along 100 Avenue, between 116 Street and 112 Street. Over 80 trees have been thoughtfully planted in these groves to improve the aesthetics and environmental benefits of this bustling urban corridor.
The selection of 100 Avenue for this tree grove project was driven by City Council and the need to address the lack of greenery in the area. This endeavour aligns with the City's ongoing commitment to creating a more sustainable and inviting urban environment for residents and visitors alike.
“This project reflects the City's dedication and Council's commitment to the preservation and expansion of its urban forest,” said Mayor Jackie Clayton. “In support of this goal, additional trees are already in the planning stages for planting in the fall of 2024, reinforcing the commitment to sustainability and the creation of an urban environment that all residents can enjoy.”
The project was made possible through funding allocated from the City's capital budget, a testament to the City's commitment to investing in projects that enhance the overall quality of life in Grande Prairie.
