With the long weekend coming up in honour of Family Day on Monday, February 18, Mayor Bill Given is encouraging residents to celebrate the holiday together at one of the many events happening across Grande Prairie.
“For nearly 30 years we’ve been fortunate to celebrate Family Day in Alberta. This holiday is a perfect reminder of how important it is to get together and spend quality time with our families.
Spending time together as a family is not only an enjoyable activity, it also makes us happier and healthier both physically and mentally, which is especially important during the winter months.
A variety of free events are planned all weekend across multiple venues, thanks in part to our generous community sponsors Sun Life Financial and New Horizon Co-op, providing you with the opportunity to find something that fits your family’s style and schedule. From swimming at the Eastlink Centre to skating with the Grande Prairie Storm to the Winterlude and everything in between, there is no shortage of fun activities for all ages.
Our community is made strong by the vitality, connectedness and quality of life of our residents and Family Day is an excellent opportunity to enjoy quality time together. We at the City of Grande Prairie hope you and your family join us this weekend to stay active and have fun.”
