UPDATE, April 29 at 09:00: 911 phone services for Northern Alberta are now fully and independently operational. If you have an emergency, call 911. GP911 is built with backup systems to ensure it keeps working without interruption, even if one part of the system fails. 

GP911 has requested a comprehensive review of the service disruption to ensure transparency and accountability for the incident but can confirm the outage was beyond GP911’s control. Residents in affected areas are thanked for their patience and understanding while GP911 worked to restore service. 


UPDATE, April 28 at 17:15: 911 Services in NW Alberta is now operational through partner 911 agencies. Telus continues to investigate the outage.  The critical alert is being downgraded to an advisory. 

Actions to take:

  • If your have an emergency, dial 911. 
  • If your call disconnects, please try again
  • In the event you can't reach 911:
    • To report any fires, please call GP911 Fire Dispatch - 780-538-0393
    • To report a medical emergency, please call - 780-624-3911
    • To report a police emergency, please call 310-RCMP(7267)

 

Original release: 

GP911 is experiencing technical difficulties receiving 911 calls. The cause of the outage is unknown, and Telus is investigating. This outage affects the ability to call 911 on both cellphone and landlines. Residents in the affected area may not be able get through when dialing 911. 

Please stay on the line if you receive a recording message. If your call disconnects, please try again. In the case of an emergency, go to your local emergency services (RCMP, EMS, Fire Station) building to report it. Staff there will be able to assist you.

To report any fires, please call GP911 Fire Dispatch at 780-538-0393.

To report a medical emergency, call 780-624-3911.

To report a police emergency, call 780-310-RCMP(7267)
