Traffic and access changes related to the rehabilitation work on 84 Avenue and 116 Street began today, September 25.

The changes include:

• The intersection of 84 Avenue and 116 Street is now closed.
• Eastbound truck traffic on 84 Avenue is closed. All trucks must use the 100 Avenue and 108 Street detour. 84 Avenue remains open to westbound truck traffic.
• Southbound traffic on 116 Street is closed at 89 Avenue. All vehicles will be detoured at 89 Avenue.
• Local traffic heading to the Kensington area will be maintained on the southbound lane of 116 Street. Westbound local access on 84 Avenue to Kensington is rerouted; please follow the directional signage.
• Over-height/size loads will be accommodated along 116 Street.

Local traffic and pedestrian access will continue to be prioritized throughout the construction.

"We appreciate the community's understanding as we resume this important road rehabilitation work," said Capital Construction Supervisor Mark Hoseasson. "The improvements will enhance the quality and durability of our roadways."

The City appreciates the community’s patience as work takes place to improve the safety and efficiency of these roadways. The project is still on track for completion by the end of October, weather permitting.
