The City of Grande Prairie is providing an update on the road rehabilitation project on 84 Avenue and 116 Street. Due to an equipment delay, the full-depth reclamation portion of the work initially scheduled to begin on August 21 is now expected to commence on September 14.

Project Overview:

  • Stage One: 84 Avenue (113 Street to 116 Street)
  • Stage Two: Intersection of 84 Avenue and 116 Street
  • Stage Three: 116 Street (68 Avenue to 84 Avenue)

New Traffic and Access Updates:

  • Over-height/size loads will be accommodated along 116 Street.
  • All other truck traffic will use the 100 Avenue detour.
  • Local traffic and pedestrian access remain a priority throughout the construction.

Revised Timeline:
The work is now expected to be completed by the end of October, depending on weather conditions.

"We appreciate the community's understanding as we resume this important road rehabilitation work," said Capital Construction Supervisor Mark Hoseasson. "The improvements will enhance the quality and durability of our roadways"

Residents are reminded to plan ahead, follow detour signage, and allow extra travel time during the construction period. Thank you for your patience as we continue to improve the safety and efficiency of our roadways.
