Starting today, November 5, the City of Grande Prairie begins the 2024 Traffic Signal Maintenance Program to ensure the safety and reliability of traffic signals across the city.

The project focuses on inspecting and upgrading traffic signal infrastructure at select intersections. Work is expected to last several weeks across various locations, weather permitting.

Scheduled intersections include:

  • 92 Avenue and Resources Road
  • 84 Avenue and 108 Street
  • 100 Avenue and 124 Street
  • 68 Avenue and 108 Street

During the project, there will be brief periods when signals are temporarily offline as crews switch from old to new infrastructure. These switchovers are planned for off-peak hours. Drivers are advised to proceed with caution and follow all construction signage and temporary traffic control measures.

Traffic will remain open in all directions, though drivers should anticipate some lane closures and reduced speeds in active construction zones.

“This maintenance is crucial to enhancing the efficiency and safety of our city’s traffic flow,” said Capital Construction Supervisor Mark Hoseasson. “We appreciate the public’s patience as we work to improve our infrastructure.”
