A memorial for those who have lost their lives while experiencing homelessness in Grande Prairie this year is taking place on Thursday, May 30.

The annual Healing Hearts memorial event takes place from 11:30 a.m.- 1:00 p.m. by the train trestle in Muskoseepi Park. The event honours those lost through an elder prayer, traditional drumming and dancing and lived experience speakers.

Everyone is welcome to attend the memorial, whether you have experienced a personal loss or simply wish to show community support.

A free community barbeque is taking place after the event courtesy of the Rotary Clubs of Grande Prairie.

The Healing Hearts memorial is brought to you by the City of Grande Prairie in partnership with Grande Prairie Friendship Centre, Odyssey House, YMCA of Northern Alberta, ACFA Regionale de Grande Prairie, Rotary House and Sunrise House.
