Here are the highlights from the City Council meeting on September 23, 2019:

Election Signs

Council directed staff to create a list or map of designated election sign locations, or present an alternative solution. This will be brought to a future committee meeting for discussion.

 

2020 Community Group Funding

City Council approved Community Group Funding for 2020.

$4.6 million will be given to 40 different groups and organizations throughout the City. The organizations will be provided either operational funds, or agreements for the use of City Space.

 

Bylaw C-1388 – City Administration Bylaw

City Council approved a City Administration Bylaw that establishes the administrative positions of Chief Administrative Officer and Designated Officers such as Director of Corporate Services, City Clerk, and City Assessor.

 

City of Grande Prairie Entrance Features

City Council approved next steps for two City entrance features. Staff will now undertake the process to complete detailed design drawings, relevant permits, and prepare an RFQ for the supply and installation of both features.

The preliminary design of the features was decided with input from the public.

 

Delegations

  • The Grande Prairie Fastpitch Association attended City Council to share their thanks of the City’s support of a recent tournament.
  • Kris Arcand attended City Council to share community concerns.
  • The Local CUPE Union attended Council to raise concerns regarding proposed changes in some City services.

All three delegations were accepted for information.
