The City of Grande Prairie and KMSC Law have partnered to bring residents two public free skates at Design Works Centre; January 28 from 2:15 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and March 3 from 2:15 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The skates promote the Design Works Centre as one of the main venues for the 2024 Alberta Winter Games and encourage community involvement through volunteerism opportunities at the Games. There are various opportunities from before to after the games for residents to get involved and volunteer.
“As we gear up for the 2024 Alberta Winter Games, these skates not only showcase our vibrant city but also serve as a rallying call for community involvement,” said City of Grande Prairie Mayor, Jackie Clayton. “Join us on January 28 and March 3, from 2:15 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., as we lace up our skates, connect with our neighbours and discover the exciting volunteer opportunities available for the upcoming games. Let's skate into a year of unity and gratitude. See you on the ice, Grande Prairie!"
Alberta Winter Games staff are going to be on-site informing visitors about volunteer opportunities for the Games at the first free skate. The second skate is a way to say ‘thank you’ to the community and volunteers for their support and contribution to Alberta Winter Games.
The sponsored skate includes complimentary skate and helmet rentals, while supplies last. Free skating times are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
