The City of Grande Prairie is excited to announce Better Than Fred’s as its new exclusive food and beverage service provider at Bonnetts Energy Centre’s concessions, bars and catering.  

Better Than Fred’s is a local eatery known as a community staple for hosting live music and serving authentic real pit barbeque. A limited menu is currently available at Bonnetts with a full selection launching in September.

“Everyone at Bonnetts Energy Centre is thrilled to have Better Than Fred’s as our new vendor,” said Catherine Ridgeway, Events and Entertainment Manager. “Their team shares a passion for the live event industry and will add spirit and value to our facility.”

“I am very excited to be working with Bonnetts Energy Centre,” said John Kriska, Owner and Operator of Better Than Fred’s Bar and Catering. “We have been neighbours and friends for a long time and I’m excited to bring new and exciting Fred’s recipes to the venue this fall,” he said.

The City issued a Request for Expression of Interest for the food and beverage service at Bonnetts Energy Centre in November 2021 and completed a competitive review to ensure access and fairness to all interested parties. Better Than Fred’s was the successful contract and signed a five-year agreement with the City.   

The first live music event with Better Than Fred’s operating at the facility is Big Wreck and Monster Truck performing at the Bowes on April 1. Tickets for this event are now available at www.bonnettsenergycentre.com.
