Snow Clearing Updates for November 18 to 22, 2019

There are two main ways the City runs snow plowing and ice control operations:

Priority Road Plowing and Ice Control
  • Occurs continuously throughout the winter in response to changing weather conditions.
  • The goal is to plow arterial (priority 1) and secondary (priority 2) roads to maintain clear access for emergency vehicles and general commuters.
  • Includes ice control operations such as sanding and salting, as well as windrow pick-up.
Residential Snow Clearing
  • Occurs in two-week rotations only when triggered by the City.
  • If a neighbourhood is not complete in week one, crews will return in week two.
  • Operated Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • The City hires contracted crews to plow residential roads.

Patterson and South Patterson and Southview.

Country Club Estates, Countryside North and South, Signature Falls and Country Club West.

Wednesday

Avondale, College Park and Swanavon/Highland Park (North).

Cobblestone, Fieldbrook, Highland Park (South), Riverstone and Smith.

Thursday

Kensington, Mission Heights, O’Brien Lake and Stone Ridge.

Pinnacle Ridge and Westpointe.

Friday

Arbour Hills, Gateway, Northridge, Royal Oaks and Westgate.

Lakeland, Easthaven, Crystal Ridge, Copperwood, and Crystal Lake Estates.

Friday, November 22, 2019:

  • Residential snow clearing crews are plowing in the neighbourhoods of Arbour Hills, Copperwood, Crystal Lake Estates, Crystal Ridge, Gateway, Lakeland, Northridge, and Royal Oaks.
  • Crews have completed plowing all priority routes and are actively monitoring for icy areas. 

Thursday, November 21, 2019: 

  • City crews are actively sanding/salting all priority routes.
  • City crews have completed plowing priority routes and have begun hauling snow from piles in cul-de-sacs.
  • The City's trail network is being patrolled and treated for icy areas. 
  • Residential snow clearing continues in the neighbourhoods of Mission Heights, O’Brien Lake, Pinnacle Ridge, Stone Ridge, and Westpointe.

Wednesday, November 20, 2019: 

  • City crews have completed plowing priority routes and hauling centre windrows from priority 2 roads.
  • City crews actively sanding and salting all priority routes. 
  • The City's trail network is being patrolled and treated for icy areas. 
  • Residential snow clearing continues in the neighbourhoods of: Avondale, Cobblestone, College Park, Fieldbrook, Highland Park, Riverstone, Smith, and Swanavon.

Tuesday, November 19, 2019: 

  • City crews are hauling centre windrows from priority 2 roads.
  • City crews actively sanding and salting all priority routes. 
  • The City's trail network is being patrolled and treated for icy areas. 
  • Residential snow clearing continues in the neighbourhoods of: Country Club Estates, Countryside North and South, Country Club West, Patterson and South Patterson, Southview, and Signature Falls.

Monday, November 18, 2019:

  • City crews are actively sanding and salting priority 1, 2, and 3 routes and are expected to finish picking up windrows on priority 2 routes this week.
  • City trails are being monitored for icy spots and being sanded/salted as needed. 
  • The residential snow plowing program continues today in the neighbourhoods of Crystal Heights, Crystal Landing, Hillside, Ivy Lake Estates, Mountview, Summit, VLA/Montrose.
  • Parking bans on all permanent snow routes are in effect.
