Snow Clearing Updates for January 18 to 22, 2021

There are two main ways the City runs snow plowing and ice control operations:

Priority Road Plowing and Ice Control
  • Occurs continuously throughout the winter in response to changing weather conditions.
  • The goal is to plow arterial (priority 1) and secondary (priority 2) roads to maintain clear access for emergency vehicles and general commuters.
  • Includes ice control operations such as sanding and salting, as well as windrow pick-up.
Residential Snow Clearing
  • Occurs in two-week rotations only when triggered by the City.
  • If a neighbourhood is not complete in week one, crews will return in week two.
  • Operated Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • The City hires contracted crews to plow residential roads.

Hillside, Mountview and VLA/Montrose.

Crystal Heights, Crystal Landing, Summit and Ivy Lake Estates.

Tuesday

Patterson and South Patterson and Southview.

Country Club Estates, Countryside North and South, Signature Falls and Country Club West.

Wednesday

Avondale, College Park and Swanavon/Highland Park (North).

Cobblestone, Fieldbrook, Highland Park (South), Riverstone and Smith.

Thursday

Kensington, Mission Heights, O’Brien Lake and Stone Ridge.

Pinnacle Ridge and Westpointe.

Friday

Arbour Hills, Gateway, Northridge, Royal Oaks and Westgate.

Lakeland, Easthaven, Crystal Ridge, Copperwood, and Crystal Lake Estates.

January 22, 2021:

  • City crews are in Friday areas doing general clean up.
  • City crews are also sanding/salting all priority routes and the trail network.

January 21, 2021: 

  • City crews are in Thursday areas doing general clean up.
  • Sanding/salting of all priority routes and the trail network is ongoing. 

January 20, 2021:

  • City crews are in Wednesday areas doing general clean up. 
  • They are also sanding and salting the priority road network and the trail network.

January 19, 2021: 

  • City crews are in Tuesday areas doing general clean up.
  • They are actively sanding the priority road network and the trail network. 
  • The plowing of the priority road network is complete. 

January 18, 2021:

  • City crews have completed plowing all priority roads and are actively sanding/salting all priority roads.
  • Crews are in Monday residential areas doing general clean-up of areas in need.
  • City crews are also patrolling the trail network and sanding as needed.
