The City of Grande Prairie is aware of a large quantity of naturally occurring dead fish originating from Bear Lake and making their way down Bear Creek. The City contacted Alberta Fish & Wildlife and learned they were notified of this on March 12, 2021. Alberta Fish & Wildlife determined the cause to be low oxygen levels in Bear Lake. In the coming weeks, dead fish may be seen in Bear Creek followed by an odour. There is no danger to residents from the smell.
