  • Since 1968. I am a Cree Indigenous man from the Bigstone Cree Nation. I have lived and worked in Grande Prairie for many years.

Married to Rosemary (33 years) and a proud father of 4 adult children and 4 grandchildren and one dog.

About

I first came to Grande Prairie in 1968 and have lived here for many of those years since.
I worked in the forest industry for 33 years (P&G and Weyerhaeuser) until I retired early in 2012. With Weyerhaeuser I have held leadership and management positions and work in various sites in Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Background & Experience

I am currently a small business owner—Auger Safety Consulting & Training (Est 2012). Courses that I teach include ATV, UTV, Argo, heavy equipment operator training and other safety courses. 
As an Indigenous man, I facilitate cultural education/awareness including land based and traditional teaching in schools in Grande Prairie and participate in mentorship with Indigenous youth.

My involvement is the community with Equity, Diversity and Inclusion committee to be a voice for the Indigenous population is notable and within the schools as an Indigenous mentor and sharing knowledge with students.

I was also involved with the Alberta Health Quality Council (AHQC) Patient and Family Advisory committee and am proud of my involvement as president from 2021 to 2025 at the Grande Prairie Friendship Center which accomplished during that time, the Community Kitchen Collaboration with the Salvation Army and many other community activities.
