Important Changes!

Important changes for 2026–2027

There are two key changes residents should know about this winter.

Residential clearing schedule changes

Some neighbourhoods have moved to a different Week A or Week B clearing day:

  • Kensington moves from Thursday Week A  to Thursday Week B.
  • Crystal Ridge, Lakeland, Crystal lake Estates, Copperwood and Easthaven move from Friday Week B Friday to Friday Week A.
  • Northridge, Royal Oaks, Arbour Hills  and Gateway/ Westgate East  move from Friday Week A to Friday Week B.

Check the updated residential clearing map to confirm your neighbourhood’s schedule.

New snow storage procedure

The City has introduced a new snow storage procedure for specific residential streets with sidewalks on both sides of the road.

Going forward, road snow on these streets will be stored on the City boulevard and sidewalk on one side of the street, while the sidewalk on the opposite side remains available for pedestrian travel.

The designated snow-storage side will alternate between winter seasons so the same side is not used every year.

This change applies only to designated residential streets and does not apply to Priority 2 permanent snow routes, even when those routes have sidewalks on both sides of the road.

For fall 2026 through spring 2027

Snow will be stored on the even-numbered address side of affected streets.

For example, if one side of the street has addresses such as 102, 104 and 106, that is the even-numbered side. The opposite side, with addresses such as 101, 103 and 105, is the odd-numbered side.

On affected streets:

  • one sidewalk will remain available for pedestrian travel.
  • driveways and walkways to homes will be kept clear.
  • on-street parking will generally remain available.
  • residents are not responsible for clearing the designated sidewalk being used by the City for snow storage. In all other circumstances, residents remain responsible for clearing sidewalks adjacent to their property.

Watch for your Snow Clearing Guide

The 2026–2027 Snow Clearing Guide will be delivered to most City residences in November.

The guide includes:

  • your residential clearing schedule and map.
  • important changes for 2026–2027.
  • parking information.
  • snow storage and sidewalk responsibilities.
  • ways to stay informed throughout the winter.

Keep your guide handy as a reference throughout the snow season.

If you do not receive or misplace your guide, additional copies will be available at City Hall, City Service Centre and other City facilities.
