Scerbak joined the City of Grande Prairie in 1996 and has also served as Director of Community and Protective Services and Director of Planning and Community Development. He was previously employed as Manager of Corporate Services with the City of Fort Saskatchewan. He began his career in municipal government in 1977 in the Town of Ajax, Ont.
“I have enjoyed my previous positions with this municipality and now look forward to helping guide the City in the years ahead as we strive to meet the challenges and opportunities that come with a growing, dynamic community,” he says. “I would like to thank Mayor Logan and Council for their confidence in me and extend my appreciation to my colleagues in Community Services for their support over the years.”
Mayor Dwight Logan says Council had a superb field of candidates from which to choose, extending the time it took to select a new City Manager.
“That reflects well on Greg and the quality of his application,” Logan says.
Former City Manager Dave Gourlay retired on March 14. City Treasurer Ken Anderson has served as Acting City Manager in the interim.
“Greg has demonstrated highly capable leadership in our organization and others,” Logan says. “He’s formed a strong team of managers and we’re certain he will carry the same qualities forward as City Manager. Greg is enthusiastic, creative and heavily involved in the community, all important assets.”
Scerbak is married with two adult children. He and his wife, Terry, are volunteers with many community organizations. He is past president of the Sunrise Rotary Club.
