Mayor Wayne Ayling and members of Council met this week with provincial ministers in Edmonton to review a number of issues of importance to the region. One of the key meetings was with Municipal Affairs minister, Rob Renner, and his Deputy, Dan Bader, with a focus on issues related to the dramatic growth of the region.

On September 14th, 2005, the County presented the City with their draft 50 Year Growth Management Strategy. The City of Grande Prairie cannot agree to the County's draft 50 Year Growth Management Strategy as it would effectively prevent any further growth of the City of Grande Prairie. The City and County have a long history of working together and we are confident that the expected growth needs of both the City and County will be addressed in the best interest of the Grande Prairie Region.
