June BEEP: Enforcement of Misuse of Disabled Parking Spaces

Monday, June 02, 2008 10:20:00 AM

Throughout the month of June, officers from the City of Grande Prairie Enforcement Services will be patrolling seeking vehicles that are parked in disabled parking spaces without displaying a handicapped placard.

Handicapped placards and license plates are issued by Alberta Registries for disabled persons who meet their criteria.  The fine for parking in a disabled space, without displaying a valid placard is $150.

As well, officers will be approaching various business owners, to help them to understand the legal requirements for posting their disabled parking spaces.  The aim is to help the business provide good customer service for disabled persons, by having clearly marked parking spaces.

For more information, please contact Enforcement Services at (780) 830-5790 or by email @ es_contact @cityofgp.com.
